ITEM QUANTITY PRICE ADD Every clarinetist needs to Joue Jolie, which is French for "play pretty". In a market crammed full of expensive ligatures, the Joue Joliet offers a simple design that produces phenomenal clarity, color and fluid expression to easily produce a beautiful sound. Robert Marcellus, former principal of the legendary Cleveland Orchestra, known for his warm, beautiful sound, was the inspiration behind this simple design.
Back in the day, when Robert Marcellus taught at Northwestern University, he recommended to his students a ligature that required a modification to make it look just like the Joue Joliet. Marcellus explained to his students that the reed needed only two equal pressure points to play its best; one placed high on the vamp of the reed and one placed slightly lower to properly allow the reed to fully vibrate on the mouthpiece and to produce a pure, pretty, focused sound. The Joue Joliet Ligature was born!
